Anniversary & Retrospective: 25 Years of the Babtec Development Team in Mallorca
With a team event followed by an anniversary celebration, our colleagues at the Babtec location in Palma celebrated the 25th anniversary of the development team in Mallorca. Of course, this was also an opportunity to look back on a quarter of a century of working together.
For the active part of the day, the team had decided on archery as a highlight. This gave our colleagues the opportunity not only to demonstrate their skills, but also allowed a few of them to discover an entirely new talent. A shared dinner with the executive management team who had traveled from Germany marked the conclusion of an eventful anniversary day.
The company then known as BB Software Balear was founded in the year 2000 in response to a noticeable increase in demand for IT specialists. At that time, many software providers were significantly expanding their development departments in order to prevent potential issues related to the turn of the millennium, commonly referred to as the Year 2000 problem.
At the same time, Babtec was also experiencing a strong need for software developers, as the company was on a steady growth trajectory. In direct competition with numerous market players, many of them considerably larger, recruiting qualified employees became a challenge. The solution was ultimately found in Mallorca.
Over the years, the local team has developed into an integral part of our software development organization and, since 2022, has also been organizationally integrated into the Wuppertal-based company as Babtec Information Systems España.
After the Palma location initially specialized in the development of new software solutions, the approximately 20 colleagues now work closely with the teams in Wuppertal and Friedrichshafen on the ongoing development of Babtec solutions.
